All this talk about solar really got me doing some research. Here's what I found out:

1. You get a 30% return for solar panel system and solar water heating.

2. Small Wind Energy Systems has a 30% return on your investment.

3. You can get a rebate anywhere between $2500 to $7500 rebate on electric cars.

4. Geo-Thermal Heat Pump receives a 30% rebate on cost of installation.

5. Biomass Stove a rebate of 30% of cost up to a maximum of $1500.

6. All Energy Star qualified metal and reflective asphalt shingles can qualify you for a rebate of 30% of cost up to a maximum of $1500.

7. All Energy Star Storm Doors; gets you a rebate of 30% of your cost up to $1500.

8. Energy Star Exterior Doors; a rebate of 30% of cost up to $1,500 although not all energy star doors will qualify.

9. Energy Star Exterior Windows and Skylights; gets you a rebate of 30% of your cost up to $1500.

10. Energy Star Storm Windows; gets you a rebate of 30% of your cost up to $1500.

There are certain things that you will need to do to qualify of course. I would suggest that you visit this website for more information: http://www.energystar.gov/index.cfm?c=tax_credits.tx_index#s4

Gilliwig,
You've really done your homework. I deeply appreciate your efforts because I have been looking for good enough reasons to go green. Well, I have thanks Bob's Big Boy for going solar and helping the rest of us to get motivated.

I found this state site that gives information specific to the state where you reside. http://www.statesolarincentives.net/solar-tax-credits.php There are specific programs to help people and businesses save money, finance and receive refunds for solar projects.

I have been needing to replace the windows in my house. Its an older house and has single paned windows. This gives me just the excuse I needed to replace them. Hubby can't say no if we are going to get money back! I might even replace the doors while I'm at it. Thanks!

This is really great info. I had just installed a solar water heater system and I'm going to be buying new insulation and new kitchen appliances. Your article really helped me to have a specific focus when I go shopping. Thanks! I will be checking out that website. Thank you Bob's Big Boy for the step forward.

All of this talk of going green like Bob is, has really got me thinking. Things like recycling, changing doors and windows, etc. is so simple. My husband and I are really looking forward to all of the money we will be saving after some adjustments. Even though recycling won't save us much money it will help us feel better knowing we are helping out our environment. Thanks Bob's Big Boy for starting a trend I am proud to help pass on.

Way to go!

Way to go yonahzmama! You know I started doing the same thing. I've already started pricing solar systems. But I didn't stop there. I found out that other cities around us have collections of recyclables each week. My small town doesn't so I have written a letter to the Mayor asking him to consider beginning this kind of program for us. I think Bob's has really started something here.
