The Great Burger Challenge

The size of Bob's Burger is just fantastic! Especially when you look at some of the fast food joints. Their burgers are miniscule in size. I have tried, on many occasions, to eat a whole Bob's Burger on my own. I always seem to get full about half way through. The burgers are big and beautiful! Then you have to try to get through the fries too. Man you have to roll me out of there! My tummy is always very happy though! he he he
The first time I went to Bob's, we drove my parents baby blue 1955 Buick convertible. The food was fabulous then and now. Wish I still had that car.
When my husband took me there for our very first date I had no idea how much food I was getting until it got to the table. MMMMMMMMMMM I can smell it now. I will never forget that evening. My mother actually got on me for being rude and not eating all of what my date had bought for me. I had to explain to her how much I started with. It was a blast.
I had to laugh when I read what you wrote. I remember going there with my husband when we were dating. The tough part was that it was the first time I had been at Bob's and I had my now mother in law and father in law with us. I didn't know how big the servings were and when my order came I blushed deep red. My husband was so sweet. He leaned over and whispered in my ear that he would help me finish my meal. Boy was I relieved!
How sweet of him to do that. I know what you mean by the size of the helpings. They are very generous. Don't go there expecting to leave still hungry!
My daughters grandmother kept trying to tell her about things they did "back in the old days." My daughter would just wrinkle her nose and laugh and tell my mother that she was funny. Well a couple of months back she took my daughter out to lunch at Bob's. My daughter was enraptured. My mother was able to make history come alive. She then promised her a special treat on a special night. I have to laugh...I can still see my daughter's eyes as she came back from one of the car shows and had to tell me all about the "old days cars," and all the cool people. She had the time of her life and Grandma forged a new bridge of memories that will last a lifetime in my daughter's heart.
I remember when my grandfather used to tell us grand kids about how much he looked forward to Friday-Sunday just to go and see the old cars at Bob's Big Boy. He took my father every once in a while and it'd Bob's old car shows that is responsible for the deeply rooted love for older cars my family has. I will be taking my daughter when she is old enough to enjoy the beauty of the cars. I can't wait.
That is so sweet. Makes me want to go call my grandparents.
Yonahzmama that sounds wonderful. What a great heritage. Its always good when we can pass down things like that to link the generations together. Way to go!
luvburgers what a great idea! You know I homeschool my son and I think that would be a great idea. Its always a good thing when you can make the past something tangible for them. I am going to have to take my son to one of their car shows as well. I think he would like it.
One of the greatest things my family and I have always enjoyed about Bob's Big Boy in Burbank is everything is reliable. My parents used to frequent Bob's in Burbank when they lived in southern California and brought my sister and I up eating there too. Now that I have my own family, everything is the same from when I was a child. The food is always reasonably priced, tastes great and it is a family friendly atmosphere for my children. I don't have to worry that there is music playing overhead with questionable lyrics or that the neighborhood is unsafe at night. Plus when we get there on a Friday night, we get to see the cars from the 50's and 60's too. We are so glad to see even after 60 years Bob's Big Boy in Burbank is still producing a superior product...the two fist hamburger! Thanks for giving me a great place to continue the memories with my children.
I know what you me canative. I love the fact that I always know what I'm going to get when I go to a Bob's Big Boy. I love that I don't have to take out a mortgage just to take my family out to eat. And you gotta love walking back in time with the music and with the cruise cars on the weekend. The whole thing just makes you feel really good about the money and time you've spent.
All of this talk about the giagantic burgers that they have here is making my mouth water! I'm mentally going through the menu right now formulating my order. I vow to make a trip to Bob's in the next couple of weeks to indulge in a juicy burger and hot fries. What better way to enjoy a burger than to wash it down with a classic americana chocolate malt!
Thank you for this great memory, Canative!
In addition to Bob's food, and going green by using solar, Bob's has a wonderful history of being a good neighbor. Many people don't know that Bob's has given over $500,000 in the last 10 years to local charities. Every month they give a portion of sales to local charities who depend on their help.
Now the Habitat for Humanity, San Fernando Valley chapter, is the official charity for our Sixty and Solar celebration. This Habitat chapter was also involved in the Bob's 50th Beach Party Celebration. They build communities for people who otherwise would not be able to afford a home! We are so happy they have joined this party for Bob!
You know, Glenna, this restaurant is just the epitome of how a business SHOULD conduct itself in the USA! I truly hope that others take notice and follow suit! They are not only helping to preserve the environment, but also helping to preserve humanity thru their good works. Kudos to Bob's!
Thanks for the info. I'm so impressed with Bob's! They show just how committed they are to the community and I have to admire that.
I am already a fan of Bob's in Burbank, but after reading the above comment and their charity work with Habitat for Humanity, I am sincerely impressed. I think in this day and age with all of the negative press than enraptures folks, I for one am very grateful to find out an establishment we frequent is so involved. It is so important to give back to your community and make a difference with your efforts. Bob's Big Boy in Burbank has really ascended the corporate ethics ladder. I only wish more companies would following in their footsteps. Thank you Glenna for posting about Habitat for Humanity.
I never knew that Bob's Big Boy did charity work for Habitat for Humanity! My employer is VERY big on community reinvestment and I think this is stellar to hear that a restaurant does Habitat work too. Each year myself and my coworkers complete about 8 hours of work on homes to help the family moving in increase their "sweat equity" time. Not only does this program help families that are trying to establish a home for themselves, but it reminds each and every one of us that we could be in that situation someday and need to "pay it forward" anytime we can. Way to go BBB(Bob's Big Boy)!
glenna I think that is awesome! I know about that program and how they change lives everyday! Way to go Bob's Big Boy!
